Expiry-day options move fast — both ways

In the last hour or two before expiry, near-the-money options carry almost no time value — only gamma. A ₹2 option can become ₹40 on a small move, or decay to a few paise if the price doesn't move at all. Spreads also widen as market makers pull back, so the price you see isn't always the price you get. This is one of the most closely-watched patterns for rapid retail losses in the Indian options market.
